Why Am I Not Listed in the IPMBA Instructor Directory?

Authored by: IPMBA Headquarters

Every so often, IPMBA Headquarters receives questions from instructors who are surprised to find that their names are missing from the Instructor Directory. If that sounds familiar, don’t worry—there are a few common reasons this can happen, and most can be resolved quickly.

The Instructor Directory is an important resource that connects agencies, course hosts, and members with qualified IPMBA instructors. To ensure the directory remains accurate and up to date, certain requirements must be met before an instructor can be listed.

1. Keep Your Membership Active

An active IPMBA membership is required for instructors to appear in the directory. If your membership has lapsed, your name will automatically be removed until your membership is renewed.

In order to stay in the directory, log in to your member account via Re:Members and verify that your membership is current. If needed, renew your membership to restore your eligibility.

Note: If you don't know your password, you can click "Forgot your password?" at the bottom of the login page.

2. Make Sure Your Teaching Record Is Current

To remain active in the Instructor Directory, instructors must have taught an IPMBA course within the past two years.

You can check your teaching status by:

  • Logging in to your profile
  • Navigating to "Account Details" > "Personal Info"
  • Reviewing your Date of Last Course Taught

Is the “Date of Last Course Taught” field both correct and within the 24-month window? Contact IPMBA headquarters at info@ipmba.org if this field needs to be updated or if you need information about reinstatement.

3. Verify Your Work Address Information

For privacy reasons, the Instructor Directory does not display personal addresses. Instead, it uses your work city and state to help potential course hosts and agencies locate instructors in their area. If a work address is not listed in your member profile, you will not appear in the directory.

Action item: Review your profile and ensure your work address information is entered and up to date. Navigate to “Account Details” > “Contact info” > “Addresses.” (Note: when adding the work address, please specify the type as “Work”). You must opt in to the “show in directory” option on your profile under “Account Details” > “Privacy” in order to be included in the directory. There, you can specify what shows in the Instructor Directory.

A Quick Directory Checklist

Before reaching out for assistance, take a moment to confirm:

  • Your IPMBA membership is active
  • You have taught a course within the last two years
  • Your work address is included in your member profile

In many cases, updating one of these items is all it takes to have your directory listing restored.
