Notice of Board Openings

Three seats on the IPMBA Board of Directors will be up for election/re-election in June 2024.  This is the official notice for those who may be interested in serving on the IPMBA Board.

In order to be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, you must be an active IPMBA member in good standing.  A minimum of 2/3 of the Board must be active IPMBA instructors.  The Board shall be composed of persons dedicated to the mission of the organization, possessing the skills to govern the organization and inclusive of the diversity of the community being served.

Any qualified member can become a candidate for the Board of Directors by:

a.  Submitting a letter of interest to the Executive Director, and

b.  Submitting a resume or C.V. (curriculum vitae).  If a resume or C.V. is not submitted, the candidate’s name will be deleted from the list of potential candidates.

If you are interested in serving on the IPMBA Board, you must submit your letter of interest and resume to the Executive Director at any time before May 1, 2024.

Please email your letter of interest and resume to Maureen Becker.  Hard copies will not be accepted.

The letter should serve as a letter of introduction and a cover letter, describing your involvement with IPMBA to date and explaining why you would like to serve and the qualities you will bring to the Board.  The resume should include not only your IPMBA/public safety cycling experience, but also your other qualifications.  You may submit your standard resume and elaborate on your IPMBA-specific experience in your letter, or customize your standard resume to reflect your public safety cycling/IPMBA involvement.

Interviews will be scheduled during the 2024 IPMBA Conference in Bentonville, Arkansas, June 24-29, 2024.  The date and times will be determined at a later date.  Candidates are strongly encouraged to attend; however, arrangements to interview via Zoom will be made as necessary.

Board members are expected to attend an annual meeting typically scheduled in January or February (sometimes March) as well as the IPMBA Conference (as applicable).  They are also expected to participate actively in projects, lead committees, contribute at least one article per year for IPMBA News, and participate in monthly calls.  They may be asked to represent IPMBA at various trade shows.  They are primarily responsible for providing leadership and guidance to enable the Association to pursue its mission to promote the use of bikes for public safety, provide resources and networking opportunities, and offer the best, most complete training for public safety cyclists.

If you have questions about board member responsibilities, please contact Maureen at 410-744-2400 or any current board member.  Contact information for current board members can be found here
