Gears & Gadgets: ISM Saddle
Authored by: Ivan Miranda, PCI #1929-B, EMSCI #469-B

I had the opportunity to use the ISM 2.0 saddle before and during an IPMBA Police Cyclist course in Miami, FL logging approximately 165 miles across a variety of terrain. This included off-road riding and several miles of bridges, putting the saddle to the test under demanding riding conditions.
What made this experience particularly interesting is that I had never used an aftermarket bicycle saddle before. I had always ridden with the stock saddle that came with my bicycles, so the ISM 2.0 was my first experience with a different saddle design.

My first impression was how different it felt compared to a traditional saddle. At times, it honestly felt like there was nothing there. The unique noseless design was a noticeable change from what I was accustomed to, and it gave me an entirely new perspective on bicycle saddle design and fit.
Throughout the course, the combination of daily mileage, off-road terrain, and bridge crossings provided a real-world opportunity to evaluate the saddle beyond a short test ride. Covering 165 miles during police cyclist course training gave me valuable experience with the saddle in a variety of riding conditions.
Overall, the ISM 2.0 was an interesting change from the stock saddles I had always used. For cyclists considering a different saddle design, I would highly recommend giving it a try and allowing time to adjust to the unique feel and find the right fit.
