E-bike training planned for Glynn County Police

Glynn County police will begin patrolling parts of St. Simons Island on e-bikes later this month after officers complete eight hours of training.
Glynn County Police Chief Scott Ebner explained the training and other details about the e-bikes during Wednesday’s media roundtable.
Ebner said training is scheduled May 15 and will include preparations to ride in areas with heavy traffic, on the beaches and other places where more visibility for law enforcement is needed.
How many officers will be trained to use the bikes had not been determined as of Wednesday.
Ebner said four of the electric bikes costing $4,000 each have already been delivered.
The bikes, which recharge quickly, were funded through a grant, he said.
“I think it’s going to be helpful,” he said. “It will be great for the public.”
