Chattanooga Police bicycle officers complete training downtown

By Shay Patterson, Local 3 News, April 27, 2024

New downtown bicycle officers with the Chattanooga Police Department have completed their training.

Riders in the class completed roughly 60 miles of training with lots of elevation.

The police department says the class learned that officers on bikes can be much more approachable. They say people in the community approached the group many times with positive interactions.

"My hope is their newly acquired skills will continue to be honed and utilized in a police function for the betterment of Chattanooga, its police department, and the community you all serve. I have been fortunate in my career to see firsthand just how beneficial patrol bicycles can be," says Instructor Sergeant Ryan Storm, of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

The Chattanooga Police Department thanked the Downtown Chattanooga Alliance and River City Company for their support in the bicycle class.
