Tanger Outlets The Walk donates $12,100 to Atlantic City police

ATLANTIC CITY NJ — Tanger Outlets The Walk donated $12,100 to the Atlantic City Police Foundation on Tuesday for new police bicycles and bike racks.

General Manager Donna Danielson presented the check at the shopping center at Michigan and Arctic avenues.

“We wanted to be able to give back to the police in a way that would keep them in and around the community,” Danielson said.

Deputy police Chief William Mazur said bicycle patrols make officers more accessible to the public.

“The patrolling officer can cover a large area, but if he needs to, he can park the vehicle and ride in specific areas like the business district,” Mazur said.

Former police Chief Edward Jubilee, who helped establish the Atlantic City Police Foundation in 2014, said the organization helps provide resources for the Police Department that the city may not be able to meet.

“Tanger approached the Atlantic City Police Foundation and earmarked the bike patrol,” Jubilee said.

Danielson said Tanger Outlets has donated to the Police Foundation in the past for projects such as ceramic vests.

“It feels good to be supported by the community and by Tanger,” foundation Vice Chairman Capt. James Sarkos said.
