WORCESTER -- An officer on the department's newly formed bicycle patrol was able to track down a robbery suspect Wednesday after the man allegedly stole cash from someone in Main South, police said.

The officer was on routine patrol in Main South, when around 10 a.m., he saw a man yelling and chasing another man on Murray Avenue. The officer tracked down one of the men.

"The officer asked the male what was going on and he was informed that the other male had just grabbed cash that he was holding in his hand and ran off," police said. "The victim stated that after the suspect grabbed his cash he chased after him."

The suspect was found running through yards on Piedmont Street, where the officer arrested him. Police identified the alleged thief as 38-year-old Abraham Moreno of 40 Windham St.

Moreno struggled with the officer, but was subdued after a second officer arrived to help. He was charged with unarmed robbery and resisting arrest.
