Police get specialized bicycles from SLASPA

Press Release - Castries – Monday, December 09, 2016 – The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority’s through its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme on Friday December 09, 2016 donated a total of eight (8) specialized bicycles to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. The initiative was part of its Community Outreach Programme and geared at making the city of Castries a safer place for all who visit work and recreate.

The bikes were donated at a ceremony at SLASPA’s headquarters. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force was well represented as members of their senior management team including Acting Commissioner of PoliceMr. Milton Desir, and Assistant Commissioners of Police Frances Henry and Ms. Cruscita Pelius attended.

Representatives of SLASPA’s Senior Management team were also in attendance. Mr. Keigan Cox, General Manager of SLASPA in a brief address stated “It is indeed a pleasure for the team here at SLASPA through its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives to assist the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and the Government of Saint Lucia by donating a total of twenty (20) specialized patrol bicycles which will assist the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force in providing the relevant patrols and law enforcement in Saint Lucia.”

The bicycles are equipped with specialized sirens, LED bike lights, signals, torch lights, safety helmets and a bicycle trunk bag. The bikes are expected to aid the officers in improving their ability to patrol the city circuit neutralize any threats and protect all the citizenry and visitors. Police Bicycle patrol is a proven method of policing that allows the officers to connect and interact with the community as well as inspect areas where larger motor vehicles are not able to access.
