Mt Isa Police has new bike squad

Mount Isa Police has a new bike squad on the beat.

Mount Isa Police have a new bike squad soon to be on patrol, conducting high visibility patrols of the CBD and surrounding areas.

Constable Cass Bishop said the squad will focus on policing high-priority areas that need support, including riverbed areas.

“Push bikes allow us to see more of the community, and talk to a lot more people that tell us what is going on,” Constable Bishop said.

This week the bike squad will be out talking to shop owners within the CBD.
