Metropolitan Police Officer Memorial Day Ride
The Metropolitan Police Department will be conducting the 14th Annual Metropolitan Police Officer Memorial Day Ride on Thursday, May 15, 2014. All members are encouraged to participate in this day of honor.
The Police Officer Memorial Day Ride is to honor and support the men, women, and families of all law enforcement professionals. Participants will meet at 0800 hours in front of MPD Headquarters. The Ride will depart Headquarters at 0810 hours to meet riders from other local agencies at the Iwo Jima at 0900 hours. When all participating groups have assembled, the ride will join into one mass formation and move to the Capitol Grounds to participate in the Police Officer Memorial Service beginning at 1100 hours. Riders will join in the reception of their fellow officers, friends, and families of fallen officers.
MPD is the largest Police Department in the Washington DC area. It is respectfully requested that each District provide a minimum of five riders to ensure a proportional representation in this worthy event.
MPD members reporting for the Ride shall be on full duty status and must be prepared to ride approximately 15 miles. Members shall proudly wear their issued mountain bike uniform and ride a fully equiped MPD bicycle with helmet.
