Police officers are now pedalling around the streets of Bracknell on bikes which were bought by fast-food giants.

McDonald's has forked out for three new police bicycles, as part of its Healthy Living Promotion, to help neighbourhood officers patrol Easthampstead and Wildridings.

Neighbourhood sergeant Alex Gresty said: "Engaging with the public and being visible is central to our role in neighbourhood policing and we are very grateful to McDonalds for providing these bikes.

"They will give us greater mobility and means we can better serve residents in Easthampstead and Wildridings.

“We will be out on the bikes most days so when you see us, please stop and say hello."

He added: “We have also volunteered to put the bikes to good use on Sunday, September 11 when we’ll be joining others in the community at BikeOxford to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charity (RMHC) which supports families when their children fall ill.”

George Wakelin, assistant manager of McDonald's in Wildridings Road, said: "We are proud to support our local neighbourhood policing team by purchasing three new bicycles for them to use within the Wildridings and Easthampstead area."
