Angeles police acquire bicycles for beat patrol

By REYNALDO G. NAVALES, the Sun-Star, Philippines, May 12, 2015

ANGELES CITY -- The Angeles City police office has acquired an initial of eight bicycles which will be used in beat patrol and police community relation by select police officers.

Senior Superintendent Eden P. Ugale, officer in charge of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO), said they were able to procure the bikes after their successful conduct of a duathlon in Clark Freeport on Sunday.

“Part of the proceeds were used in the procurement of the bikes and a portion of it will go to our beneficiaries because some of our police officers and their families who are suffering from illnesses need financial assistance for their medical expenses,” Ugale said.

Superintendent Gemma Vinluan, Angeles City police community relations chief, said that they are planning to acquire more bicycles to cover crime-prone areas within the city.

Bike patrol cops were presented to Ugale during a flag raising ceremony at the Camp Pepito Tomas in Barangay Santo Domingo on Monday.

Ugale directed the bike team to augment elements of different police stations in their police visibility drive.

The police director at the same time thanked sponsors and participants who supported their fund-raising campaign.

He said that close to 400 individuals (policemen and civilians) participated in their duathlon for a cause.
