A 20-year-old Windsor man is facing numerous charges after bicycle officers on downtown patrol stopped a silver BMW and found suspected drugs inside.

Bike-riding members of the Windsor police City Centre Patrol were on duty around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when they saw the BMW at the intersection of Bruce Avenue and Park Street West.

The officers recognized the driver as a person whose licence had been suspended.

They stopped the car and spoke with the male behind the wheel. During their interaction, the officers noticed an open bottle of alcohol inside the vehicle, as well as what they believed to be controlled substances.

The driver was arrested on the spot. A search of the suspect and the vehicle resulted in the seizure of: two half-empty bottles of alcohol, 25.8 grams of suspected cocaine, 110 suspected MDMA pills (Ecstasy), three bottles containing suspected codeine, around 1.7 kilograms of suspected cannabis, cellphones, and cash.
