Two Austin police officers on bike patrol hit by suspected drunk driver

An Austin police officer has been released from Dell Seton Medical Center but another remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after they were struck by a vehicle while patrolling on bikes early Saturday morning, according to the Austin Police Department.

The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. in the 600 block of East 7th Street downtown.

Both officers were transported from the scene to Dell Seton by Austin-Travis County EMS. One was released at about 6:30 a.m., police said.

A woman operating the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to police. Additional details weren't immediately available.
