Police conducting night-time farm patrols on bikes near Malvern
By Joseph Broady, Malvern Gazette, 28 January 2023
POLICE have been conducting "night-time farm patrols" in areas surrounding Malvern.
Following thefts from farms in the rural parts of Malvern and Upton-upon-Severn, the Pickersleigh and Chase safer neighbourhood policing team has increased cycle patrols.
A series of pictures showing signs for Longdon, Bushley, Welland and Buckbury were all posted by West Mercia Police on Neighbourhood Matters.
PC Dave Olczak said: "Night-time cycle patrols make it far easier for officers to hear movement than when patrolling in a car.
"Also, it aids us in getting down bridal paths and around farm buildings without spooking potential thieves before we come across them. "
