Business donates electric bikes to West Columbia Police Department

WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) — If you’re in the West Columbia area, you might see officers screaming down the streets on two wheels.
It’s all because a new business is already giving back on the day of its grand opening. Pedego bikes donated two electric bikes to the West Columbia Police Department.
The bikes are already outfitted with blue lights, sirens, and a pouch with the word police printed on it.
“I see police patrolling either on a Cayce electric bike, golf carts, or regular bikes and I just wanted to help make their job a little easier,” said Coker Day, owner of Pedego Electric Bikes.
“We can use it in our green spaces, in our parades and special events we have; it makes our officers more approachable so that we’re not windows up, doors up,” said West Columbia Chief of Police Marion Boyce.
Earlier this year, Cayce PD got three e-bikes on their own.
