Reykjavík Police to Patrol by Bicycle

Officers of the Reykjavík Metropolitan Police have begun patrolling the city’s streets by bicycle. Two officers, Flosi Brynjólfsson and Stefán Fróðason, will travel to Minneapolis next month to attend a course in policing by bicycle.

The officers carried out several patrols by bicycle last summer. Stefán told Morgunblaðið that patrolling by bicycle allows them to speak with people on the street and it helps them identify which issues need attention.

“It’s also nice to be outside, to have air in the lungs, to get the blood moving and enjoy summer,” Stefán said.
