City Police will deploy officers on bike patrols to six locations that will be the centers of New Year’s Eve celebrations on Wednesday evening.

Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Unggung Cahyono said the six locations comprised the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle, the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) cultural park in East Jakarta, Ancol beach in North Jakarta, Kota Tua in West Jakarta and some islets in the Thousand Islands regency off the capital’s north coast.

“We will deploy 156 personnel on bike patrol. Patrolling on bicycle is also good for the police officers’ health,” Unggung said as quoted by tempo.co over the weekend.

City Police will deploy more than 11,000 personnel, including traffic police officers, to safeguard the New Year’s Eve parties.
