Napa Police officers on bikes pursue speeding truck in downtown

By Napa Valley Register staff, May 1, 2017

Two Napa Police officers on downtown patrol pursued a speeding pickup truck on First Street and Soscol Avenue Sunday afternoon, police reported.

The officers spotted a driver speeding east on First at about 3 p.m., leaving a cloud of smoke from the rear tires and causing the tires to lose traction, police said.

The bicycle officers activated their red lights, flashing blue lights and sirens. They caught up with the truck at Soscol Avenue, but the driver didn't stop, police said.

As they followed the truck south on Soscol, the bike officers called for support from an officer in a patrol car. The patrol officer in the car made a vehicle stop on Main Street in the parking lot of Kohl's, police said.

The suspect, Kory Lawrence Erland Patterson, 31, was booked into the Napa County jail for investigation of resisting arrest, exhibition of speed and evading a peace officer on a bicycle.
